Bil-Ge Lab was founded in 2013 by Assoc. Prof. Hande Ilgaz and Assoc. Prof. Jedediah W. P. Allen. In 2014, the lab welcomed its first graduate student. Today, the Bil-Ge family continues its research with more than 20 undergraduate students volunteering as research assistants each year, along with 5 master’s students and 3 doctoral students.

- Social and cultural learning
- Selectivity in learning
- The relationship between language and cognitive development
- The role of play in child development
- The contribution of mother–child language interactions to children’s social and cognitive development
